"Magdalene and Traxe join forces

to create industry leader"

Independent telecoms service provider Magdalene acquires engineering services specialist Traxe

5 October 2009 – Magdalene, the independent services provider of bespoke telecommunications solutions to operators and customers across the national highways, railways, electricity and utility segments, has acquired leading engineering services company Traxe Global Services Limited from Xtera Communications, Inc. The acquisition brings together two well-established independent service providers, and will enable the combined company to deliver end-to-end solutions for some of the UK’s leading telco operators and public and private enterprises.

The acquisition enhances Magdalene’s long-term strategy to boost its service capabilities and support an ever-expanding customer base. Previously, part of the Xtera group of companies, Traxe provides maintenance, deployment and logistics services to IT and telecom companies in the UK. Acquiring Traxe will give Magdalene’s clients access to a wider service infrastructure as well as more agents with over 50 people from Traxe joining.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to expand Magdalene’s business and we’re delighted to welcome Traxe on board,” said Anthony Crane, managing director of Magdalene. “We weren’t prepared to partner with just anyone, but Traxe’s values and company culture are everything Magdalene promotes, making them the perfect fit for us.”

Customer loyalty and retention have been key differentiators in Magdalene’s success. The acquisition will enable both companies to offer their existing clients broader experience with additional maintenance capabilities.

“We see consolidation in the multi-vendor service industry as positive for Xtera and our customers,” said Paul Colan, executive vice-president and chief financial officer at Xtera. “Magdalene is well-established in this industry.”

“Our customers are key to everything we do. We wouldn’t be making an acquisition like this unless we were sure it would benefit both sets of clients and improve the level of service Magdalene offers – by extending first line maintenance capabilities and  increasing our optical service capabilities,” adds Crane. “It’s a great move for all involved.”

"Herts. County Council stays connected, with 24 hour network service and support"

Fibre Technologies wins Herts. County Council contract with Traxe Global as its services partner

Crowthorne, UK – 18 May 2009:  Fibre Technologies Ltd (FTL) is partnering with Traxe Global Services (Traxe) to provide first line maintenance support to its installations on the Hertfordshire County Council cross-campus network. Traxe will provide a first line support service for the Coarse Wave Division Multiplexer (CWDM) equipment deployed by FTL to maximise capacity on the Council network, and will ensure commitment to delivery of a four-hour-to-site service level agreement to the customer.

By partnering with Traxe Global Services, Fibre Technologies’ customers can benefit from three tiered service levels, from which a support package can be created that is specific to an individual business' needs.  Tier one covers deployment, where customers can call upon a team of experienced engineers for assistance rolling out new technologies.  Those with existing networks can choose the network operation centre and fault management service (tier two) that helps customers manage their data traffic more efficiently.  The third tier offers first line network support for customers, maintaining and providing spares management and delivering round-the-clock assistance throughout the UK.

"As a service provider we see our partnership with Fibre Technologies as a natural fit," explains Paul Crofts, general manager at Traxe Global Services. "Both our companies agree on the same approach to customer service standards and we are confident this will lead to further successful customer wins."

Ian Hunt, managing director of Fibre Technologies, comments, "We are delighted to be able to provide ongoing peace of mind to Herts. County Council that their solution is fully supported.  Working with Traxe Global Services enables us to provide a round-the-clock support for our clients, whatever their specific need.  This contract demonstrates our ability to work together and deliver a total end-to-end package."
